Tom Cruise is reportedly preparing to reprise his role in a third installment of the “Top Gun” franchise. According to a source close to the project, a script for the new movie is currently in development at Paramount. The film will follow 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick” and the original 1986 “Top Gun.” Plans are underway to reunite Cruise, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and director Joseph Kosinski for the sequel. Additionally, it is expected that Cruise’s co-stars from “Maverick,” Miles Teller and Glen Powell, will also return. Writer Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote “Maverick,” is working on the script. The success of “Top Gun: Maverick,” which grossed nearly $1.5 billion worldwide and received six Oscar nominations, likely contributed to the decision to develop another sequel. Cruise recently signed a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to produce theatrical films. The news of the upcoming “Top Gun” film was first reported by Puck.
